He has been instrumental in delivering path-breaking work, creating much-loved IPs, and building high caliber teams. Shubhranshu has received over 40 Indian and International awards across advertising, marketing and brand building. These include one or more D&AD Pencil, Effies, E4m, IAMAI, Emvies and many more.
Shubhranshu serves as the Global Head of Marketing for the automotive giant Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicles business. Prior to this, he was the global CMO for Royal Enfield. In earlier stints, he led marketing in South Asia for Visa, Unilever’s home care, skin and cosmetics & deodorants businesses. He also created most of the sports leagues in India (platforms like the Pro-Kabaddi Indian Super League, Premier Badminton League, Ultimate Table Tennis, Hockey India, Tamil Nadu Premier league, Karnataka Premier League) during his 5 year stint with Star Sports.
He developed viral advertising campaigns such as Cricket World Cup 2015 – Mauka Mauka, Pro Kabaddi League – Le Panga, amongst others. He was the Customer Channel Program Manager in Unilever and the National Customer Marketing Head for Diageo in India. He has done extensive work on small and organized retail payments as the Director of Marketing for Visa. He pioneered digital payments, launched and grew Visa’s debit and e-payments portfolio. As Global Head of Marketing at Royal Enfield, he was responsible for customer facing initiatives for 2000+ retail locations. He successfully launched 4 new motorcycles – The Interceptor and GT 650 Twins in 2019, the Meteor in 2020 and the All New Classic in 2021 with the first 2 becoming Motorcycles Of The Year 2019 and the Meteor winning in 2020.
Shubhranshu has two decades of global brand and category building experience on some of the most admired brands in the world. He has the proven, rare ability to use technology to evolve a brand’s storytelling using technology rather effectively. He has deep experience in customer journey based transformations, whether it is in the world of electronic payments, customer journeys of sports fans from on ground in stadia locations, to online to gaming as well as, in his pioneering work on development and customer facing initiatives with the Royal Enfield App and the Make It Yours customization and personalization program.
Shubhranshu secured a gold medal in International Financial Management from the IIFT: Masters Program in International Business – 1999. He now serves as Chairman of the Marketing & Sport Development Committee at Bowling Federation of India. He is also a member of the advisory board for CEQUIN that works for equity for young girls and women. He has also served as a pro-bono advisor to the ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports from Jan 2018 to Dec 2018.
He has chaired the jury for APAC Effies 2021 and also served on the jury for the Global Iridium Effies 2021 as well. He hasn’t kept his knowledge and expertise to himself but has liberally shared it with the marketers of tomorrow. From being a guest lecturer, adjunct faculty, seminar speaker or making an annual symposia appearance at: IIM Udaipur, IIM Lucknow, IIM Ranchi , IIM Ahmedabad, besides other institutions. He is also a prolific writer and writes a column for several publications particularly on brand building, consumer sociology, technology and trends.
